Wild Streak Farm is family-run. The work is done by us — Erik, Angèle and Alexander — with help from family & friends. From seeding and harvesting to washing vegetables and packing orders, we’re deeply involved in every part of the farm.
We practice small-scale farming rooted in soil health, biodiversity, and seasonal growing. Our approach combines regenerative and organic principles with low-impact growing methods designed to support healthy plants, healthy ecosystems, and healthy food.
Rather than relying on industrial systems, we focus on growing diverse crops carefully and intentionally, with the long-term health of our land in mind.
We are not certified organic. As a small farm, certification can be costly and time-intensive, especially in the early years. However, we grow using organic and ecological practices and believe transparency, relationships, and accountability matter just as much as a label.
We do not use synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or GMO crops. Instead, we focus on prevention and ecosystem balance — building healthy soil, encouraging biodiversity, rotating crops, and creating conditions where plants can thrive naturally.
Healthy soil is at the heart of everything we do. We build fertility through composting, cover cropping, crop rotation, mulching, and minimizing soil disturbance whenever possible. Our goal is to grow nutrient-dense food while improving the land year after year.
We manage weeds primarily through manual and mechanical methods, including hand weeding, mulching, tarping, flame weeding, and careful bed preparation. While labor-intensive, we believe these methods are worth it to support soil life and avoid herbicides.
To manage insect pressure, we rely on crop rotation, biodiversity, row covers, healthy soil practices, and close observation. Rather than trying to eliminate insects entirely, we aim to create a balanced ecosystem where crops can stay healthy and resilient.
We source our seeds from trusted companies that prioritize high-quality, non-GMO, and organically grown seed.
We use natural soil amendments and fertilizers such as compost, organic minerals, cover crops, and other approved organic inputs when necessary. Our focus is on feeding the soil first, which in turn supports healthy plant growth naturally.
