Hand-harvested from the pristine lakes near Kapuskasing, Ontario, this authentic wild rice—traditionally known as manoomin—has been an important food for Indigenous peoples for thousands of years. Despite its name, wild rice is not actually rice, but a nutritious aquatic cereal prized for its rich, nutty flavour and hearty texture.

Traditionally enjoyed with wild game, fish, and maple-sweetened stews, manoomin remains a versatile pantry staple that shines in soups, salads, grain bowls, and rice blends. Its distinctive flavour adds depth and character to both everyday meals and special occasions.

One dollar from every bag sold supports Menòbideg, an Indigenous-led social enterprise connected to the Birch Bite restaurant in the Algonquin Anishinabeg community of Kitigan Zibi. Through land-based education and outdoor science programs, Menòbideg helps connect youth with environmental stewardship and Anishinabe knowledge systems.
